Need some advice on this one fellas. Ive been looking and found a Springfield M1A SOCOM CQB with collapsible stock. So just wanted everyone's thoughts on this rifle. It's 1700.00 bucks which I could spend and get a DD in 308 but the M1a SOCOM with the archangel stock looks modern yet classic at the same time. I owned an M1a match grade in wood but sadly pussed out on taking care of the wood stock the correct way and sold it ( I know stupid but some of these wood stocks take work to keep up and wasn't ready for that at that time in my life). I don't even know if these things are even made in the US everything springfield has comes from the Croats. Good builds but I had a Helion, great rifle, couldn't find any support for it from accessories standpoint. Long post sorry but let me know what ya think good rifle or just get a DD for the same price.

Got a socom 2 used, rip the 47 feet of trash rail off, threw it in the river. Took the composite shit pile stock and speared it into a wall, put an old m14 stock on it, now it does pretty well when I dump rounds from the hip

The 18" Scout version runs a little bit smoother, than the SOCOM version, the SOCOM will not run without the special break/noise enhancer. The cheek weld on the SOCOM 2 collapsible stock hurts and the novelty wears off fast. Plus, I don't think you plan on using it as the first man in a stack of door kickers so, I will just leave that there. There are better tools for that job.

I have the Scout version, neighbor had the SOCOM, it didn't stay long, that's why I got the Scout afterwards.

like you I thought it would be cool, and fun, and do what I had planned, but that changed fairly fast.
