Re: Mag length .223 W/Hornady 75BTHP?
This bullet is made for mag length loading (dont confuse with the Hornady 75 grn AMAX, which is not) Just load for COAL < 2.260" and it will load and feed fine in the AR mag. May want to play safe and set it at 2.250-2.255" Use 24gn of the usual powders for the heavy bullets in .223, such as RL15, Varget, N140, TAC. Set and forget it, I've loaded and shot thousands of 75/77s with such loads in multiple uppers and it has been accurate and reliable for Hipower across the course (at 200 and 300) and IT (at 300, 500, 600)yds. For most hipower shooters, this combo is the closest thing to a "standard" load for NM shooting. Some use it for slow fire prone at 600yd as well. For primers, use Rem 7.5, CCI SRM or BR, avoid the Fed, Win, or Rem 6.6 primers as they are thinner and more likely to pierce. Should deliver about 2700-2750 FPS in 20". Work up your loads, etc, but if this load doesn't shoot, its not the the load...
