Marines prosecuted for theft ring

Hope none of those sticky fingered Marines were Hessians on SH!

We had a criminal in my unit. He was from South Boston and grew up on the streets with pretty much no adult supervision to speak of. He never stole from one of us, but he was a total kleptomaniac and just a plain maniac. There was a constant conflict between being loyal, being suspicious, and wanting to see him get busted for all the stupid shit he did.

He would steal a car off base, drive home for leave, ditch the car, and then steal another one when it was time to come back, ditch it off base, walk back and report for duty. When I left he was under investigation for stealing one of those big, A/N, Spy Cases (the giant Pelican suit cases) with the camera and the huge telephoto, starlight, and thermal lenses. I'm pretty sure he did it too.

Some guys at Ft. Lewis got nailed stealing something like over half a million in thermal and NV tech. Tried to sell it. Got caught and they got back 80% of the stuff IIRC.

It happens more often than you think, and demo, that shit can literally disappear during a spendex. Along with detonators and det cord. They do the range shakedown, but that won't stop someone dedicated to stealing that shit. Also know of a guy that tried to hide a crate of hand grenades after an exercise in NTC. Planned on coming back later. A few different stolen NODs scenarios while I was in, starting in fucking basic of all places (some kid tried to steal a PVS7 in another company, day of or after 9/11, day before graduating infantry school).

My ex-roomie in the barracks was a total fuckup, he stole vehicles, fucked minors (one was this major's daughter but he found out too late for the court martial) stole NODs (just to escape a field exercise to go AWOL, threw 'em away once he reached the highway!) stole arty sims and SAW-mags, 600rds. I'm just touching the tip here. He used to take his SAW into his room, and he wasn't supposed to, he was supposed to bring it into my room to work on it along with the rest of the squad. So when they found all that shit together, they took his ass away. Jacking off at the guards got him transferred from Ft. Lewis brig to Ft. Levenworth military prison where got an extra year or so added. He did all this before his 18th birthday too, joined the day he turned 17. They wouldn't let me testify, I felt he was done wrong by his recruiter, DS, and every NCO that he passed who didn't try to ETS his ass out for whatever reason, it was obvious he wasn't cut out for the army.

Boy, those marines are fucked! Wouldn't wanna be them.
