Mattress in a box??? Or stay brick and motor name brand??

Looking for reviews comments on mattress's. Have an old 15yr Tempur-Pedic that's just not cutting it anymore it's always been hard as a rock and hot as heck to sleep on.

Was looking at the Purple mattress the wife says no way to online beds but I feel like 3500 to 4,000+ for a higher end brand name mattress is allot of coin sure they have come a long ways but they still have allot of older technology in them and I have caught a few of the sales guys slip and say they had sagging issues or such even with the new ones. With the return policy I figure what's there to loose??

Go to Sam's Club. Theyve got a good deal on Serta for around $500 . If it only gives you 5 years of great service you can buy 7-8 of them for the price on one of the others.

FWIW, some years ago we went to "Sleep Country" which is a chain up here across the country. Paid 'more' for a bed set than I was expecting to pay. More than I've ever paid for a bed before.

Inversely, WOW, did we ever get MORE bed than we were expecting. Seriously, very surprised and impressed with it, and considering that which we paid, I still think we got a great deal. They sell numerous brands, and this particular one is a "Kingsdown" but I cannot remember the model.

With all my ailments and inabilities (disabled-and I hate that term/class) I have to give credit where credit is due. I wish I had this 25 years ago. There is ONE lesson we both learned though, and that is to never buy a "memory foam top" again. If you want 'memory foam', get a cover that is take-off-able or turn-able or whatever-you-want-able. That is the ONLY negative about the whole thing, and it's not a big one.

Now on a whole different note, I'm looking for someone/somewhere who has the ability to make a 'custom triangular air-mattress' for the stateroom in our boat. It seems that what I'm looking for, doesn't exist. Frustrating.

I bought ghost beds for my kids. The nights have never been quieter.

I bet you've got the same kingsdown I have. Paid $2700, worth every last penny. Cured my sleep apnea.
I don't know how I ever lived without it.
Sure you can buy a $500 mattress every 5 years and never spend $2700 in 25 years.
You'll also always be spending half your life on a shitty mattress. I've slept on plenty of $500-$1000 mattresses. They have all been shit to mediocre.

Still sleeping on a waterbed....40 something years now....Just get a good waveless matteress....and don't look back no plans of ever changing....We also have a Tempur pedic and a natural latex in guest rooms....The latex is my next choice...

Sleep number! Best night sleep I’ve ever had. Adjustable to your comfort level, and some nights will be different than most. It’s good to know you can firm it up, or soften the mattress when you feel like it.

We got a mid-range Serta for under $1K last summer, it is awesome. It has some type of memory foam built into it, only an inch or so thick. It is perfect, just enough give to make sleeping on your side great, not enough to be hot or miserable.

I'd buy from a store and sure as heck would not spend $4K.

Its a little known fact you always stay away from the 3 S brands, Sealy, Serta and Simmons unless you buy them from Costco or Sams that will replace them in 5 years or less when they turn lumpy or cave-in in the middle. Buy one of their plushes and watch it cave in over a few years. Either buy a sleep number or really research some of the small brands. Remember foam mattresses retain heat if youre a cold sleeper and latex have a lot of “bounce”. I like a bed with a mix of the two. I personally like Brooklyn Bedding for the price.

I'm not going to recommend a brand, but buying a mattress in a box from a company that offers a 100 night return policy doesn't seem like a good idea.
If someone doesn't like the mattress after 90 days of sleeping, fukin', and whatever, they return it. Seller throws a new cover on it, seals it up, sends it out to the next buyer.

We couldn't do the typical mattress again. You have to spend quite a lot for quality and still there is no real guarantee the thing wont start sagging within months. They just aren't the same anymore.

Went with a full latex bed from mail order. And after an initial adjustment, the thing just knocks the body out into a full relaxed comatose state. Its not hot ever, but in summer we keep the room temps at 75 over night. Everyone's preferences are different though so YMMV.

I went down this road a few years ago and have zero intentions of every going back to traditional or memory foam mattress. I went with an East Coast dealer.

Still sleeping on a waterbed....40 something years now....Just get a good waveless matteress....and don't look back no plans of ever changing....We also have a Tempur pedic and a natural latex in guest rooms....The latex is my next choice...

I still have the old fashioned single bladder water bed. I've had one since I was 18, and that was a hell of a long time ago. I've been through two ex wives and on the third, but I still have the old water bed. It's the only bed that balls back.

Got a bed-in-a-box mattress a few years ago. Drove 4 hours to see them in a store.
Sleep like rip van winkle on it and shows no sign of breaking down.
