Just an FYI,

As you all know, the thumbscrews on the McMillan saddle cheek pieces are GTG. However, therein lies a problem. At times, one may have to switch to their support side and fire from their "off shoulder".

Found a simple solution to keep one from chewing on a thumbscrew in the event of the above taking place.

Stop by your local hardware store and request 2-4 10/32 x 3/8" set screws. I think mine were only like .20 cents apiece. I bought 4 and installed 2 in each side. I don't have to remove the saddle for cleaning and with 2 in each side it pinches the saddle from both sides and won't creep down like they are prone to with the thumbscrews.

Hope this helps!

Glad to help my friend.

Re: Mc Thumbscrew replacement

One caveat---The length of the screw will depend upon the stock. I am using an A3 and the 3/8" is WAY too short. In fact a 1/2" is a tiny bit too short as well. The thread size is perfect 10-32 fine.
