I dropped my 2003 vintage Tubb T2000 in .308 off at McMillan Rifle Company (where it was made originally) to have the barrel threaded for my Thunderbeast 30P-1 suppressor.

While there, I inquired as to the availability of 6.5 Creedmoor barrels. The response was a short series of questions: "Would you prefer a Schneider or a Krieger - and in what length? Threaded, as well?" I could not believe my good fortune! In stock?!? Since every Schneider barrel I have has performed so well, and Gary Schneider's shop is only about four miles from the house, I chose to stick with the local brand.

So, today was a very happy day, when Sam (right) and Tyler brought out the finished products out of the shop:

I had a great time while there at McMillan conversing with Barbara, the receptionist, another refugee from Tennessee like me, and Dick, the shop manager, plus Keith, in rifle sales. Did I mention they were also methodically packing for the SHOT Show, yet still had the time to share with a lowly customer who only owns one McMillan-built rifle?

What an unexpectedly great series of experiences! I really left doubly glad I bought that odd looking newfangled Tubb rifle back in 2003.

I have two McMillan's and another being built. The folks over there are great and there rifles are second to none. For all three I worked with Gerald Hills and he walked me through the process of building the rifle so I got exactly what I wanted.
