MDT introduces the HNT26! A 26 Ounce Carbon Fiber Hunting Chassis.

Come on, someone buy a green one and post photos!!
It's just cobalt green Cerakote sprayed on the carbon fiber....

@JGR1953 Yeah yeah I know, but seeing it in the wild always makes for better photos than the stock web grabs.

I do think the green > carbon fiber look, but thats just my take.

Dropped my barrelled action in it on Sunday, zeroed and took it out to 905 yards Tuesday afternoon then went looking for some meat for the freezer but only saw a couple of does...

Rem 700 with 20" Benchmark med palma in .308 (also have 26" Hardy carbon 7SAUM for the same action)
Nightforce NX8 2.5-20 Mil-XT in MDT Premier rings
Insite aluminium Heathen muzzle brake

Rifle weighs 9.8lbs (no mag, no bipod, barrelled action with optic weighs 8lbs), 12lbs with double-pull Ckyepod and an AG sling

Gonna have to "make it mine" with some kryplon and a sponge, haha

Greetings and my respect to everyone,
I was able to get valuable input from everyone’s experience here which I used to build on the HTN26 chassis.
Chassis- MDT HTN 26, Action- Defiance Ruckus REM 700, Barrel- Proof Research CF Sendero 16.5” , Caliber .308 1/10 twist, Muzzle Break- MBM TI Beast II, Optics- US Optics FDN-10X- MOA, Rings- US Optics ZRO Delta Rings, Trigger- Timney HIT, Barrel & Action on by Straightjacket Armory. I have not been able to go to the range yet. Thank you for all the knowledge and experience that is on this Forum. When people listen great things happen. Hope everyone enjoys. It was raining so these where the few pics that could be taken at the time.

Nice looking rifle! What length/profile/caliber barrel is that?

I was able to handle and inspect this chassis at the Precision Rifle Expo last weekend.
It is the schnitz! Holy cow is it light! Super well made. All edges, internals and hardware are perfect. Very well done.

Also was able to racoon one of their rifles with this stock, CF barrel and light weight action. It was ridiculous. Super nice.

Thanks!

Bergara B14 Extreme Sporter in .308 Win.
Rather light, fluted stainless barrel, 18“ in length.

Comparison with a Bergara HMR Barrel.

Weight of the barrelled action, 3,4 pounds.

The green looks amazing, I should have probably waited for it to become available.
Had to pull the trigger on an in-stock black one though 😁

4,9 kg ~ 11 pounds including silencer and night vision.

Nice! When you say “in stock”, I’m confused. When did you order yours?

Also, is that a mini Arca rail, and if so, where did you get it?

It was in stock at a German company specialising in long range classes. I called asking when it would be available and they had one stock left from their first order. I got lucky I guess.

The Arca rail is from MDT, this one, in 3.3“ length. The mini rail works quite well with my tripod, hasn’t seen the wild yet, though.
It’s quite quick to get the rifle onto the tripod and off again, in case wild boars show up from a different angle, close by.

I just received my HNT26. I really like the stock and the workmanship is top notch.

The one thing I'm kind of worried about is how it will take the abuse of hunting. Although I like the stock so much, I'm thinking of switching out another rifle to this chassis. Does anyone know if a Defiance AntiTi LA will fit this stock without any issues? I called MDT and the guy I spoke to said that they should, but wasn't familiar with that specific action.

As long as it's a standard Remington 700 LA footprint, you will be good to go; it would likely be best to follow up with Defiance for any compatibility questions. But don't worry about the abuse; trust us, we abused it good and plenty before we released it. Simulated and field testing for both.

There was a rifle in this chassis on the firing line at Precision Rifle Expo this past weekend.
Everyone that shot it was impressed by the the way the rifle tracked on recoil.
This ones a winner !!

That looks cool. Will they make it inlet for the Mausingfield I wonder

They list the Mausingfield on their website as being compatible with Remington 700 stocks and chassis so you should be good to go on a Remington 700 platform.

I walked 12 miles in the Missouri River breaks on Sunday with my rifle which is in a HNT26. This is rugged country! You wouldn’t know it by looking at the rifle afterwards. Held up extremely well. Sling has QD swivels on it so I used the sockets on the side the whole time. Those held up well!! Many more miles to go this hunting season. Will report back.

My concern isn't so much with the odd impact here and there but more so the built in arca rail and wear rate from sliding in and out of a tripod. It's that thought in mind that has me wanting to choose one of the cerakoted ones right now for the extra wear layer. Regardless, one of these chassis is still at the top of my bucket list. I just need to make a call on running my Tikka or one of my Nukes as my hunting rifle...

Yup, we tested that as well, you will be good to go!

Chassis is holding up very well. Put some more miles on in some nasty stuff. Got a few bumps and bruises on the chassis. Banged it on rocks etc. Just leaves light scratches. Nothing to write home about. It’s also holding zero which is something I have been watching with the light weight and the rough handling.

Anyone receive an HNT26 in Tikka LA? If so, what was your order date? Just trying to calculate when I’ll get mine. TYIA!

There is a lot more that goes into when you will receive your chassis. Your best bet is to e-mail [email protected], and we will be happy to provide an ETA. But please note right now, both our US warehouse and manufacturing facility are affected by flooding and things have come to a stand still for the time being.

Thanks Anthony, but I've asked a few times and I just kept being told 2-3 weeks. The last time I asked on 11/10, I was told "we'll look into it" and never heard back. I know things are crazy, so I didn't want to bother anyone over there and thought I'd try to get a basic idea from someone with a similar build.

No worries, we are always happy to help, and we are trying to get an update for everyone as soon as possible. But the current situation has shot that in the foot; we will get an answer for you as soon as we can.

Looks great! Any plans for left handed configurations?
Serious question here for manufacturers... Why don't companies take a page from Magpul and machine a block that allows for ambi usage? Is that patented?

Does anyone have any pictures with a lighter barrel profile? I'd like to get one of these for my Tikka but can't decide if it'll look stupid with the superlite barrel.

There are patents on those types of designs. But generally speaking, Ambi designs are an interesting concept that needs more refinement since there are challenges that it presents which are outside of our design philosophies at this time.

There aren't too many, and it can look a bit odd since there is going to be ample room around the forend. But who cares? It's still light and awesome!

I did hear back from support. I was told another 8-9 weeks due to QC again. Just an FYI for anyone waiting.

Yes, it looks like that at this time, but we are coming up with a new strategy right now, so we are going to work to get that time down.

For those running carbon barrels, any issue with the balance point? I'd like to put a 26" carbon barrel on this but am worried it may end up too front heavy.

It will be way worse with a steel barrel. Carbon barrels feel heavier to the chamber more so it's really the best way to not have a front heavy rifle.

My 24” Benchmark Sendero profile(which is a bit heavier than the proof, benchmark has a 1.25” over the Proof 1.20” shank) with 16oz silencerco Omega balances very well. I’d say maybe just a touch muzzle heavy but just slightly. I think a 26” with brake would be just fine

How'd it end up fitting? Pictures?

It fit perfectly with plenty of clearance, I’m honestly surprised I haven’t taken a picture of it yet but I’ll snag a few in the morning.

Been carrying it some for coyotes and killed a crow with it at 120 yards two weeks ago but Saturday will be its first hunt as it’s our deer rifle season opener here in PA. Based on the 7 shot ladder test and a 3 shot confirmation group with the node below pressure I’d say I’m ready to go.

So here is the picture, as you can see there is plenty of clearance.

Here is the full rifle, total weight is 9 pounds 4 oz though the 18” carbon six barrel on order should drop that to 8 pounds 12 oz. I plan to pick up one of the new MDT wood grips during their Black Friday sale to put on it as that should only add an oz or so.

My only issue is that the RRS Atlas bipod clamps are out of stock everywhere so I’m SOL on putting a bipod on it at the moment unless I put a wobbly cheap plastic Rail on the front.

@MDT_OFFICIAL are international customers (New Zealand) able to order online and get the black friday deals?
I wasn't going to buy anything but the deals are very very enticing!

We don't have international shipping at this time, unfortunately. But check in with a local dealer they may have their own sale going!

It’s a good thing the HNT26 wasn’t on sale, I already have one, and I could use another 10. Also, MDT CS is second to none, full stop. I may have sell a few yachts to fund my magazine purchasing habits. Great sale, and great people!
