I'm back to thinking about a chassis for my 20in AAC-SD 308

I guess this is kinda a chevy vs ford debate now, but what are the practical differences?

The LSS seems to be slightly cheaper, but it is smaller too.

I'm not going to war, just looking for a fun target rifle. No real need to attachments or anything.

Really I very much want to get behind both as the on shoulder feel will really make or break it for me.
Anyone in Long Island have both?

What did you buy and why?

I can only speak on my experience with the MDT LSS and regular XLR chassis. I have used two of the LSS on customers rifles so far and they definitely fit the bill for being light weight and the ergonomics/ability to change the ergonomics with AR15 parts is great. It however is not a "Drop In" chassis, haven't ran in to any chassis yet that truly is. Almost every chassis could use a bit of bedding. I have not dealt with an XLR Element but I have used one of their standard LA chassis on a .300 WinMag build. Both chassis are well machined. I did like the finish on the XLR more then the MDT and the XLR was a better "Drop In" fit then the LSS. The XLR comes with a comfortable butt pad that worked well on the .300 WinMag and did a good job of not beating up my shoulder during the Test Fire of the rifle. For the LSS, that will depend on what stock you choose to put on it. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is that if you go with the LSS, the fixed stock adapter and a Magpul PRS gives you a really long LOP and depending on your optic (We used a Nikon M-308 for the customer) the eye relief adjustment might be enough to use the full magnification range of your optic without giving you the "Tunneling" effect. I would recommend the CAA Sniper Stock for a M4. It will give you almost more adjustment then you will need in every area. LOP, Cheek Height, and a monopod but they are pricey.

+ 1 for the XLR, top notch product from some top notch guys! The Element with the tac lite stock is an awesome combo, throw in the folding adapter and it's even better.

I have talked to the guys at XLR and was very happy with how they answered questions and just seemed to have great customer service.
Really I need to get behind both and see what fits me better.

Off to find both locally......
