I threw my NF Atacr 1-8 on my SR25 ECC today and hit the range. I was hoping to use this setup to be able to make hits out to 600ish yds however after my experience at the range today I am a little disappointed. I believe my main annoyance is due to the fixed 125m parallax. I never felt like the image was really clear and I always felt like I had parallax error in the scope, then combine this with the rolling mirage and targets say 2-3 moa in size and I left a little frustrated.

Am I asking more than this optic is capable of? Any one else had a similar experience with an LPVO and trying to shoot at medium/ long distances?

Did you miss your shots or are you just frustrated about the image?

An LPVO is a jack of all trades so you can’t be anal about everything. I shoot the razor and it’s not a perfect image at every distance but I consistently make hits out to 500 with it without issue.

If I want something more precise and prettier then I get on my bolt gun. If I want fast and accurate fire on targets the lpvo fits the bill beautifully.

I actually find it a bit freeing not having to dick with parallax. I'm running mostly Schmidts and depending on model, when on 8x there isn't a ton of room to screw up the sight picture.

I shoot a lot of 2/3 IPSC and 10x10" plates with LPVO's and a variety of non-precision 5.56's.

I understand that around 500y (maybe less depending on environmentals) that i'm going to start to give up impact spotting with some guns.
600y is the reasonable limit for expecting high first-round hit percentages.

That said, pushing beyond 750y barricaded supported with only 1-4x or 900y off a tripod with a 1-8x has not been overly difficult. And that's with a duffer like me behind the gun with a chrome-lined barrel and factory ammo.

The closest I can relate to your setup was an ACC w/ 1.5-8x26 S&B that I had years ago. Hits at 1/2 mile weren't difficult.

That's the exact feedback I was looking for, thank you! Sounds like I just need to spend some more time with the setup and get some more time under my belt before giving up on the 1-8. This 1-8 normally lives on my 11.5" sbr AR but I threw it on the SR25 as a temporary solution until I can get a new scope.

I'm was mainly just annoyed with the image, found myself focusing more on the image than anything else. Hit wise, I was pleased with the hits I made especially given the wind I was in today.
