Ar
Just had a 7stw built and my smith had the barrel melonited
It's a Krieger # 5 and shoots really good so far With little to no load development the first 20 rounds 5 shot groups under .5 in heat , plan to bore scope it after a few hundred rounds and see if I have any erosion . Also interested to see what velocity ends up being , I'm shooting a Berger 168 as of now and I
Also love the new mcmillian game scout it's in , so far its my favorite hunting stock ive felt I will post pics tomorrow .

Re: Melonite so far so good

I have a few melonited barrels and found that they have much less carbon fouling after shooting, and add a little velocity. I can't say if the throat erosion will be less, nor will they last longer but that was not the reason I melonitex them.

Can you post up velocity figures from before and after? I had a 1911 done with that process and love the results. I was leaning towards having a Rem 700 barreled action done after Mr. Roscoe finishes the metal work.

I gained about 20-40fps extra velocity with a 7mm WSM in a 28" barrel.
