My friend holds up a Whitetail Buck I killed many years ago on the Powder River in SE Montana...this buck was aged at 9 1/2. Oldest Whitetail Buck I've ever killed. 11X9.

Re: Milk River Whitetail Buck

That is a great looking buck. I don't think I could pass on a buck like that. Any estimates as to what he might score? My best to date was 150 class 10 point.

Re: Milk River Whitetail Buck

I would guess 140ish...eye guards are short and he could use some more mass. Nice frame, probably 19" wide.

The 11X9 scored 185 B&C.

Nothing wrong with a 150" 5X5!!

errrr hell no!

Re: Milk River Whitetail Buck

That is a nice deer. I would agree on 4 1/2 yrs, his body shape is not that of a 6 yr old.

He'll be a beauty in a couple more and if he is in a place where I thought he was "safe", I'd let him walk and take the chance I would see him again another day.

PGS, did you have this one officially measured? It is hard to guesstimate a score, but it is worth checking to see if it would make the B&C book for a non-typical whitetail.
Very unusual and especially nice to take such an old one.
Thanks for sharing both photos.
Good hunting.

Re: Milk River Whitetail Buck

Jeff, Thanks! I had that buck scored years ago...I had to dig around to find the score sheet. It went 185 4/8 B&C. At the time the minimum for non-typical was 190. I never did enter it when they dropped the minimum score. I took the buck on November 18th, 1981.

hehehe..Ever get in trouble with the wife cause you could remember the date a successful hunt years after the fact but not some other "important" date like her mothers birthday?

Re: Milk River Whitetail Buck

shit a trophy around here is anything with 8 points since everybody shoots anything with horns.....Hardly see bucks older than 2 years. But the does thats a diff story. WNC needs to change its regs to one buck a season and offer more doe days to take care of the population of does. I bet the buck to doe ratio is 1/3 here if not worse

Re: Milk River Whitetail Buck

Both are great looking bucks. I will be hunting the Milk River this Nov for the first time for mulies and can not wait. I was in Glasgow many years ago for a baseball regional tournament and still remember seeing some big deer then the pics you posted will make it even harder to wait until I get there.
