This should be a quick question for the experts here!
Here is some background:
Working up a load for the 156 bergers.
Rifle is a steyr pro hunter in 6.5 creedmoor
25.6 inch barrel.

I think my rifle has a longish throat so here is my question.
I need a minimum of 0.264" of bearing surface in the case neck, correct?
If this is the in fact true, then the closest I can get to the lands is a 0.035 jump.
(Base to ogive in my rifle with the 156 berger is 2.278)

I have done load work up with h4350 and rl16 with a jump of .015 but neglected to pay any attention to the depth of the bullet in the case. Accuracy was generally good but with an occasional flyer.

So, should I run them with a .035 jump to get proper case depth?

There is no rule as to how much should be in the case other than enough told hold the bullet and shoot good. Do what you need to do.
