I have started to build my savage 338 its on a budget . I purchased a bipod adjustable, from 9-13 in for stability shooting prone . A center point scope 4x16-50mm shooting 200-225 grain hornady and Winchester ammo . The barrel, stock, and bolt are original . I want to turn it into a long range hunting and competition rifle i just need some advice on what else i can do to. Reach my goal. Any thing i can get from anyone would be appreciated thnx . P.m me if I'm offline

When talking "long range hunting and competition rifle" one needs to make careful thoughtout purchases. Advertising and internet hype can blow your budget out of the water. Buy Once Cry Once is the adage many use. Even with some of the above mentioned brands careful product line selection is critical. SWFA has a proven track record with their single power scopes for the tight budget. Bipod selection is another item that not just any will do. Some can wear you out trying to find the sweet spot for accuracy. For range shooting in the prone position the Sinclair FClass bipod is as stable as you will need. For for me, anything 338 is not really for a tight budget.
