After reading about both processes and theories behind each coating on performance and affects on barrels, just looking to pick someones brain on their preferences and/or pros vs cons of the two. The infamous "cold bore" shot being minimalized has a major appeal for myself in hunting situations.Which do you prefer and why?

Never tried the hbn but I've been using moly on my magnums for years. My custom 300wm has over 2200+ rnds through it with moly & it still shoots sub 1/4 moa if I do my part. My cold bore shot is always the same as the rest & cleaning after even the longest string in comps is a few passes with my bore snake.

I use hBN, but honestly for shooting aplications there's not enough difference to really warrent much thought (marginal COF delta). I use hBN because I use it in another product and have 10-20lbs of it on hand at any given time plus it doesn't tend to cake as easily during coating (less hydrophilic).
