Recently bought a Remington 5R and thought I would put my Nikon off of my hunting rifle till I could buy a new scope for it. I was mounting it and "bore sighting" it and noticed that the turrets seems to work backwards. Or am I looking at it wrong?

Here is the elevation turret:

I'm assuming to move the reticle up, you would turn it counterclockwise, in the direction of the arrow pointing to "U".

Here are a couple of pictures looking out my window.

As you can see the reticle moved down in the picture instead of up. Think the scope is messed up or what? The scope is also a little foggy at the edges. Think maybe it lost seal?

It's an older model also, what do you think Nikon will do about it? Sorry about the crappy photos.

Re: Monarch UCC messed up?

Yes, it would move down when you add elevation. Because when you add elevation, you lower LOS (LINE of sight) and reticle moves down in the turret.

To require your target into the LOS (center of reticle), you must raise the entire rifle, bringing up the POI.

Duh!!! I knew that. Sorry for the dumb ass post..... I need to think a little more before I start typing. Thanks and sorry again. I've shot rifles and bows long enough I should've known that. Just wasn't thinking.

Still may check with Nikon about the fuzzy edges.
