Hey, my first post!
Been doing hours and hours of reading here researching, thanks for the free tutorials!!!
I will give back for sure when I have more knowledge.
I have decided on the Leupold MK4 LT/R M5 (0.1 mil adj.) My question is this...

Would milling targets at ranges of (400 yds. plus) be easier with say the 4.5x14 50mm vs. the 3.5x10 40mm. The .2 mil marks look pretty small. $100.00 difference could be worth it.
Does anybody know if these are available in the Ill. TMR reticle yet?
Thanks in advance.

Re: More Magnification power = easier milling?

Yes, given the same reticle in 2 differnt magnifications, milling targets at higher magnification is going to be easier for you.

I always said that until mirage kept me from spotting shots for my partner. I have 25 & 20 power mk 4's and prefer the 20's since they mill @ max mag.

To answer the original question........ go for the 14.

I will be spending most of my time at the 200yd-600yd range of UKD. If/when the skills allow, I will try for more.
Now I am looking at the Nightforce scopes as they will have me milling at 14x.
Might not be FFP (can't spend the $$$ on the F1) Cheaper than the Leupold FFP mil mil anyhow.

Re: More Magnification power = easier milling?

I shot the 60 yard Shot at Spring ASC on a NF 22x and the 1" tile we had a few years ago on 17x with the USO. Ran the movers, and another 8 yard shot at RO on 16x with a S&B. I would say I vary the Distances somewhat.
Mirage has forced me to dial back some but I have never not been able to go back low enough, with what I had.
