We had a great pyrenees that jumped out the back of the truck while doing 78mph down the interstate.

We had a topper on and he managed to sneak one side open and squeeze out.

A minivan pulled up along side me and said your dog jumped out about a mile back and ran across both directions of the freeway.

We went to the next exit and turned around.

We found him, still alive. He was pretty banged up. Staples in his eyelid, stitches on a couple knees and the pads of his feet were fucked, but no broken bones or internal injuries.

He was one tough son of a bitch.

He stopped and yelled and yelled at the dog to come back but it was laser focused on something and didn't respond. He called his wife and the two of them spent several hours driving around looking for the dog. They were headed back into town and there was his dog in almost the same spot where it bailed standing over a dead coyote wagging his tail when he saw my friend driving up.

We used to run coyote dogs and didnt have GPS or trackers, if we lost a dog, grandpa would leave his jacket where we released him would go home and come back in the morning, every time the dog would be lying on the jacket. I was always impressed by that.
