Uh... No... The one on the right is called "pop country". It is nothing more than mass produced pop bullshit with a bit of a twang added to it, marketed primarily to suburban and county line soyboys who just bought a brodozer and wanted to act "country". The one on the left is known as "DARK COUNTRY", "GOTHIC AMERICANA", "GOTHIC FOLK", "OUTLAW COUNTRY", "SOUTHERN ROCK" and "WESTERN ROCK". The genre still exists and it is actually growing in popularity due to the disgust and disatisfaction with the faggotry that is "pop country", causing a lot of new and often extremely talented and emotionally invested artists to contribute to this genre's rapid growth and rebirth. And last but not least, the 9/11 attacks triggered a surge of patriotic fervor and pride in American ideals of such sheer intensity that had not been seen since Pearl Harbor, and greatly contributed to the rebirth of traditional outlaw country in celebration of American values and the history of the Old West...

Examples of past outlaw country artists:

Johnny Cash and the Highwaymen
Hank Williams
D. Ray White
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Charlie Daniels Band
Chris LeDoux
And more...

Present day outlaw country artists:

Chris Stapleton and the Steeldrivers
Cody Jinks
Jesco White
Blues Saraceno
Brother Dege
Daniel Murphy/Anthony Sanudo/Eric Serna
White Buffalo
The Steel Woods
Rebel Son
The Heavy Horses
North Country Gentlemen
Hank Williams III
Creed Fisher
Dean Brody
Nine One One
Randy Houser
Kix Brooks
Colter Wall
Whiskey Myers
Blackberry Smoke
Old Leatherstocking
Gary Allan
Ghoultown

And A LOT more...

So yeah, the category on the left is actually growing and gaining up on/overtaking the shit on the right...

Funny. Grew up listening to country in the 70-80’s and hated it. Was into metal and alternative. Now I find myself listening to the shit I hated, southern rock, and altcountry/outlaw country. Really tired of the hate myself and hate America BS. Aaron Lewis was awesome in Stained and he has just gotten better as he ages. Fuck Im getting old.
