I was at Baylands Raceway one night for the grudge races. Two guys from Oakland bet $10K on a race. One guy had an Anglia with a blown SBC, the other guy had a Vega with a blown BBC. These were not high dollar big tire cars, these were low buck just make it run type rigs. They did the same thing, blew the tires off right at the starting line and both guys peddled it the entire length of the track smoking the tires and crossing back and forth over the center line. It was a "Holy shit! Did you see that?" kind of race. Both guys got permanently banded from Baylands after that.

It was also fun to watch the Hells Angels run their nitro Harleys. Those were some crazy dudes.

This picture of from the Dennis Erectus on KOME radio days.

Used to love watching the Outlaws sprint cars run at Baylands.
Those fuckers would throw mud all the way into the stands into your beer, lol.

I’ve heard of it, but couldn’t find it on Google maps. I assume it was in Fremont. How long ago did it close ?

I lived about 2 miles from the track. We went every time they had sprint cars. Sprint car drivers were the most approachable race guys. After races they would all be sitting around on the pits drinking beer and talking with the fans. We were there the night a drunk fan got on the track and got killed in turn 1.

We used to go to Speedway 99 in Stockton a lot and made the trip down to Mesa Marin a couple of times a year. The Outlaws without wings at Mesa Marin was wild. We were at the San Jose Fairgrounds when the WoO ran wingless on the 1/2 mile track. The same night Busta Rymes was playing at the fairgrounds. The concert and the race ended at the same time, we expected big trouble when the wannabe rednecks and rappers were leaving at the same time, but we didn't see any trouble at all. An AMA race on a mile track is something everyone should see at least once.

When I was a kid back in the sixties we went to many of these. Sacramento mile, San Jose. My Cousin raced mostly TT Races. His son became a well known Speedway racer.
The movie On Any Sunday there is clip of racing in Lodi and at the end of that clip there is a lady wearing a big assed hat and I was sitting right behind her.
My Dad had taken us to the Drive In to see that movie and I was pissed off when all I saw was that that Lady's hat.

I have that on DVD somewhere.

How many years did this fucker live for the tree to grow enough to support a swing?

Silver maples grow 3 to 7 feet per year. A 30 year old tree could easily support a young kid.
It depends upon where you live and the type of tree. An oak in Florida living in good conditions can get 2’ in diameter in 30 years. That’s what happened at my parent’s place.

And now you know.

Oh man!! What technology can do!!1!1!!1! Researchers use AI to model a type of cement/concrete that, though it emits CO² during mafuacturing it, absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere making it carbon neutral!1!11!!! It can last hundreds of years as opposed to standard concrete!1!!.**

**article fails to mention anything about limestone plaster, which has been used for thousands of years already from and does exactly what the AI modeled. 🤡
There have been co2 neutral cements studied for decades. So far can not be made commercially

Lots of vhs stories on u tube.
