I still have my timing light, tach dwell meter, wrenches for timing bolt, the Allen wrench on a flexible shaft to adjust dwell on Chevy distributers. I sold my distributor machine. Really wish I hadn't, but I don't work on the old EFI 450SL/ SELs anymore. The distributor had 4 sets of points, two for the ignition and two for the injection. The only way to set them up is to remove the distributor and do them one at a time.
I am guessing it was the late 60's and the early incarnation of them. There was a small airport 2 blocks from my parents house, we rode bikes there and watched planes. We could ride right out onto the aprons around the hangars. I remember those things trying to get off the ground. I also remember a couple of deaths when they did finally "fly". A common thing to happen was the phenolic block on the points that rides the distributor cam wears down thus closing the points gap. They used to provide a tiny capsule of grease to put on the block to prevent the wear. More commonly, in points failure, was the contacts would pit and wear or a screw would come loose a the points would move out of adjustment.
Once, on an old Datsun pickup, the pivot arm on the points cracked. The truck would start and idle fine, but try to accelerate and the truck would stall. As the distributor would advance, the crack in the points would widen and kill the spark.
Must be a very old pic, I have had a crew cut for 50+ years and a beard for the last 15 years.....

Rinse the crock pot out
Fill with hot water
Add 1 dishwasher tablet
Set on high for 3-4 hours or low overnight
Turn off and let cool
The dishwasher detergent gets the crock pot clean
Rinse out and store away
And now a clip
