I love the Scots! We had some come diving with us on wrecks off of Long Island, NY. the boat deck was very high, and we stepped off through an opening in the rail. The Scots insisted on sitting on the rail and rolling off backwards. I asked one of them why they insisted on rolling off backwards, and he said, 'If we roll frontwards we'd still be in the fooking boot!"

Man, that SEAL demo team has had its problems. I was standing about 40 yards from where one went splat on the tarmac at an airshow and he hit so hard I heard his head hit the concrete. He came in hot off a hook turn into a swoop and waited too late to flare, then overdid it and got a high-speed stall on the canopy. He hit so hard I was certain he was killed instantly. The show was shut down for about 20 minutes while they attended to him, and I'll be darned if they didn't have him back on his feet (well, foot actually, because it turned out his other leg was shattered, but he was VERY lucky that's all he got).
 
There "almost" was a Hurricane Emergency Evacuation map put out by the State of Alabama that was about that bad. It had a large circled area in shaded red that encompassed Mobile and all of the Alabama coastal region, and then extending up along the I-65 evacuation route to Montgomery, resulting in huge red phallic symbol. One of my friends is an engineer with DOT and when he saw it he said, "You must be kidding." Fortunately, he saved a copy of it for posterity, but the design of the final map was then modified to something less embarrassing.
