Unfortunate, but true. I almost had a sniffle when I read about the vernier being used as a wrench. That's tantamount to a welder using a micrometer as a clamp.

That is much nicer than mine. Nowadays they are built out of cheap ass plastic.My 'knife' for battle.
Many years later dad and I were building a barn. Came time to start cutting rafters and dad pulled that out. I remember thinking I finely get to find out what this thing really does.
