I have a Harris bi-pod(s) that I mount to my TRG via the little (read: dinky) two screw sling swivel that fits into the bottom forend slot--is there a better way? It works fine so far, but just doesn't seem too robust????

I just can't bring myself to buy a SAKO TRG bi-pod...had also wondered if you got something like and Atlas would it work on regular sporter or other style rifles with a standard sling swivel on it--I am aware that Atlas offers a TRG 'type' but would like a bi-pod that would work for more than just my TRG..

Thanks for any intel.

Re: Mounting bi-pod on TRG

Fish,

I have never heard of the sling swivel stud failing on a TRG, especially when used to mount a Harris.

As far as the Atlas- it can't be mounted to a sling swivel, but you can buy a section of pic rail that will fit in the handstop area of the TRG to mount it.

Finally- the TRG bipod is WORTH IT. It was the whole reason I bought a TRG. I have two Atlas bipods and they are awesome, but personally I wouldn't dream of using anything but a Sako TRG bipod on a TRG after using one and now owning one. You can find deals on them if you keep your eyes open.

Re: Mounting bi-pod on TRG

Kasey (Accushot, Atlas) has been working on a TRG adapter that uses the TRG bipod mount. Assuming when its ready it will be similar to the AI adapter in regards to also being able to attach a pic rail section to mount bipods other than the Atlas.

Re: Mounting bi-pod on TRG

OK guys, good feedback. I may just start scouting for a SAKO TRG bipod at a good price, just went against my grain originally--and already owned several Harris. Good to know that the little adapter seems to be reliable, sure is dinky with the two little straight slot screws...

Now if I could just find a truly adjustable cheekpiece for the TRG

Re: Mounting bi-pod on TRG

Here is your two choices. You can either get the TRG rail from Accu-shot and mount an Atlas directly to it or you can wait for Kasey to get the TRG adapter that will allow you to mount an Atlas using the existing bipod mounting location. Either one will serve your purposes extremely well and save you a lot of coin.

Re: Mounting bi-pod on TRG

Anyone heard a recent timeline for the Accu-shot TRG spigot? I know they were planning it, but haven't heard anything for a while.

I agree, I tried a Harris at firstand didn't care for it on my TRG 22. Replaced it with the TRG bipod. Expensive, yes but worth it in the long run.
