Rifle Scopes Mueller APT 4.5x14 Scope question

Recieved my new Mueller 4.5 x 14 APT today and it appears to have a problem with the Windage and Elevation adjustments. I cannot have the elevation and windage knobs turned all the way down or up at the same time. To turn the elevation knob all the way down/up, I have to have the windage knob centered on 3/4 which limits me to 20-30 MOA of adjustmet L or R.

In addition the turrets are very stiff once they're turned all the way up or down. I'm sure you can tell by my description that I'm a novice, but I would appreciate any feedback on what I could be doing wrong.

I'm on a budget so I was looking for an inexpensive option on optics to hold me over until I save some more money. Mueller's prices are very reasonable and they seemed to have decent reviews on this site, so I'm hoping I didn't make a poor decision.

Yeah, you have an unlucky scope. Mine works great. Id call Rich and you can get it taken care of. Its not supposed to be like that.

It is a round tube, not a square. Of course you can't move it the full distance laterally and horizontally at the same time. Simple physics.
It has been covered before, someone was actually good enough to post a graphic illustration.
