Police and other emergency workers in an affluent suburban county outside of Denver are responding to reports of multiple officers down.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office tweeted "multiple deputies down" in what remains an active situation. Residents are being asked to avoid the area.

In an earlier tweet, the sheriff's office stated there was "an officer down call in the area of County Line Rd between Colorado Blvd and University Blvd."

The sheriff's office issued a "Code Red" at around 7:15 a.m. local time, asking residents in the area to avoid windows and shelter in place.
This is a breaking news story. Please check back for updates.

Well crap. Not my area of town and still close.

Local news says domestic case is how it started.
Total of 7 patients to the 2 level 2 trauma centers near there accoding to the hospitals spokespersons.
1 hospital has 3 not critical, the other has 4 and no conditions released yet.
No news on if the patients are LEO or otherwise yet.

They are having a procession/parade with the dead officer from the hospital to Castle Rock now. Traffic all shut down for that. Lots of police cars and motorsicles.
I guess after that things will start getting back as normal as they can be under the circumstances.
I hope the bad guys are being good while all of the police are busy with this.
RIP Officer

I just watched the 9News from Denver, sorry, don't know how to link so don't ask, They put out some of the facts about the shooting.
It was the 2nd time Deputies had been to the building over noise complaints. The 1st time it was quiet and they didn't do anything. The 2nd time they went was hours later and someone there let them in where the shooter was waiting for them and fired around 100 rnds at them. The shooter was a mentally ill Iraq war veteran with an electronic facebook type grudge against the Douglas Co. Sheriff. Some really wacko shit posted. It took a while but they finally got a shot into him and put an end to the bullshit.
They later had a BIG procession/parade to take the fallen Officer down to Castle Rock[about 25 miles] to the coroners office. Lots of Cop cars and motorsicles. It was damn cold out there, around 10 degrees, and those Motorofficers rode the bikes all the way there. The route was lined with citizens, Firefighters and Police. Very moving.
My prayers go out to all involved. Shitty way to bring in the New Year.
Maybe someone here that is better than me with computers can post a link.
RIP Officer

So FM had asked by a Castle Rock Police officer was there. I don't know. I did read that the fallen officer had been a Castle Rock officer for a couple years before becoming a Douglas county deputy.
Also according to the story, he left a job in banking to become a police officer.

They are shutting I25 in Denver for a while today for his funeral procession.

Prayers for his widow and youngsters
