Re: MY .308 build!!

The 5R is a very nice production rifle.
It was my choice also, I had a side bolt release installed and I also had an old style Remington trigger laying around and had that installed also.
Could have done it myself but i carry the rifle on duty.

I have been shooting the 168 AMAX with pretty good results, but the hornady 168 HPBT match bullet really shoot well in mine.

I was considering a DBM as I like the HS stock, but I really wished for a longer and more vertical grip.
I hemmed and hawed, then finally decided to buy an XLR chassis.
When you consider that the badger DBM will set you back about 450 installed, I thought that for another 300, I might as well get the chassis and have it all taken care of.

Don't get me wrong, Badger makes awsome stuff, but have you considered the Hooper Ordnance DBM? I really like the option to have the lever contoured to the trigger gaurd. The price is substantially lower also.

Jeff at CDI makes a nice DBM for a savings of over 100 bucks and reports are very favorable on his stuff.

5R was a good choice. I was really impressed with mine for a production rifle.

ps pictures are nice...

LOL...haven't seen this one before!!

Re: MY .308 build!!

CDI is good stuff and you can save some money, but its not a big name brand. I use em and AI mags. Works well for the cash. You can maybe find a used one for alittle less, but you gotta be quick on the trigger to get em!

You do of course realize that the only thing that makes a 5R a 5R is the barrel.....right?

If you intend to change out the barrel it's silly to get a 5R.
