Here is a video I shot showing some mods that can be done to the Tikka T3 rifles. There is growing aftermarket support for the Tikka's that allows one to make this good rifle a great rifle. This is currently my main coyote rifle.

Take care,Stan

Re: My "customized" Tikka T3 Lite VIDEO.

Anyone thinking of buying a Remy should look into the Tikka instead. They can be had for the same price, are absolute lasers, and with the new aftermarket are tough to beat. Nice rifle Stan! I am thinking about picking another up to go with my TRG.

With all the $$$ you just spent bringing that rifle up to spec you could of bought a Sako 85 with a much better stock, better action, better bottom metal including metal mag, metal bolt shroud and a much nicer finish/pedigree.

im happy the upgades are here for the tikka but once you add them all up you have a Sako 85 budget right there

I agree with you there, but, if you want a relatively inexpensive good rifle to begin with Tikka is the way to go. One can always upgrade as budget and needs allow.

Tikka's are good rifles.

Re: My "customized" Tikka T3 Lite VIDEO.

That could be said about ANY rifle...Remington comes to mind. After you do all the "upgrades" to a Remington you could just buy a custom out the gate for the same money spent.

With the cost of the RIFLE,scope, bottom metal, bolt shroud, bolt handle, and scope base and rings I have less then $1500 into this rifle...TOTAL.

From what I see of the price of the Sako 85 your talking $1400-$1500 just for the rifle.

This is not a thread about what rifle is better, etc. It was only to show what can currently be done to enhance/modify the Tikka's. At around $500-600 for the Tikka, it is a heck of a rifle.

Take care,Stan

I agree with what you are saying. i to like the tikka rifles but i also hate the plastic parts and i would have to replace them like i did on my sako quad. i suppose it cost me £100 to remove the plastic parts on the Quad from Hotrod9mm in the US. which worked out good value

maybe its a little different price structure in the states but tikka rifle here set me back about £700 and a sako maybe £1050-£1100 so there is a good chance the Sako 85 would end up cheaper. also the sako has calibre specific action sizes which is nice.

if you enjoy the customisation process then that is all that counts.

Re: My "customized" Tikka T3 Lite VIDEO.

Fx1, If it'll help to give comparative prices in pounds a Tikka T3 in the states will cost about £350 while a sako 85 would cost in excess of £850. It's a significant difference.

Stan
Great video. I am passing my Tikka T3 down to my 11 y/o son. So I want to "pimp" it up a little bit. Thanks for the info. Just for curiosity, how much was the trigger guard? and how long did it take to get here from Gernamy?

Re: My "customized" Tikka T3 Lite VIDEO.

Hey HK. Your son will love it. My 14 yo shoot this one often.

It only took about 10 days to receive the bottom metal from Germany. Price....you will have to contact Pete and let him know your a Hide member and I am sure he will give you a good deal.

Just a side note. If your Tikka is a .223 then you will have to either enlarge the bottom of the receiver or remove some material from the feed lips of the AI mags. I chose to mill out the receive a bit.
The feed lips of the .223 AI mags are very thick and will not seat all the way into the receiver.

If your rifle is a .308 parent case then you will be using the metal mags and then it is no issue.

Take care,Stan

Re: My "customized" Tikka T3 Lite VIDEO.

Thanks Stan.
I am thinking of dropping it into a Manners stock and ask them to inlet it as well. Gonna have to spend some money now.

Re: My "customized" Tikka T3 Lite VIDEO.

Just bought a 223 T3 Lite (and a 7 rem mag SL), anyways. Was wondering what your load data was with those 50 grain Vmax's. Also, have you tried the 40 grains? I was wondering how they would do out of a 1:8 barrel...

Thanks
