My dissapointment with GAP

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

I am confused. Is hanging from someone's nut sack a good thing or bad thing?

I mean, if someone was hanging from mine, I'd bet it hurts a LOT!

My major disappointment with GAP is...

... I don't have one. Of course, I have not ordered one, so I guess I deserve what I have........

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

I support GAP 100%

I have 6 rifles from them and have NEVER had an issue and when I sent a couple in to have barrels threaded he did them in less then 3 day turnaround.

Im not "swinging on GAP's nuts" I support a company that has done right by me everytime and always puts out an above stellar product.

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

And they are also a company who supports the shooters and our sport with giving tens of thousands of dollars in rifles and work on prize tables at matches each year. Some people don't realize that but they need to.

Support the people who support you. I do.

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

Custom gunsmithing and watching glaciers move are sports best left to the most patient of men. Having been through the process many times, I know to send the gun off, forget that I own it, and then be pleasantly surprised when it returns to me.

You know, that is a great response! Someone asked me just last week what lessons I thought I learned the most from in life.

Mostly, it has been mistakes, and losses...

We live in a world where perfection is expected and failure to be avoided at any cost.

I believe it was John Sculley, ex-President of PepsiCo and ex-CEO of Apple Corp. who stated that he would never hire a high level manager that had not had a public failure. It was failure and how it was dealt with that built character and made men.

I might buy a rifle accessory that says that. </div></div>

This could be a new product opportunity for a bean bag rear rest.....You may be on to something! </div></div>

The problem's gonna be getting the accurate measurements for the prototype. *I* aint gonna do it...

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

I don't like Kool-aid personally, its not really a drink, its just powdered sugar added to water. The water gets no credit.

And I don't own a GAP rifle as of yet - it's the economy.

But, for awhile, when I hear or read that people just don't take responsibility any more I will think back to this post.

Borrowing from an old English show I viewed recently, "I must say, old boy, jolly good show!"

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

i got a few things from them in the past and they said it would be a quik turnaround and i had to bug the hell out of them to get it back in a month. i guess there just super busy??

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

Nobody's perfect and anyone with an ounce of ability to learn from constructive criticism will benefit and improve as a result. This applies to the conduct of business and it sounds like GAP don't let the grass grow under their feet when it comes to that sort of thing.

Personally, I've learned more from my f*ck-ups (some of which were legendary and expressed to me as such in words of one syllable by team mates) than the things I've done right.

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

+1 for Gap.
My first build they had a deadline of 6 weeks. I needed it for RO. I had it with a week to spare.
Since then I have had several complete builds that took no longer than 6 months. Every bolt knob install, muzzle brake, anything I've broken, or barrel threading has been a two week turn around from door to door. Also, every gun has shot better than I can.

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

+1 for George and all of his dedicated employees! One little misunderstood exchange and all of this???

Bitch about something that matters....bunch of crybabies.

I'll keep you in mind if I ever want a rifle sling from someone with a crappy attitude about customer service.

a little misunderstanding would have been taken care of after the first call with concern. george would probably never even know there was an issue if it were not for this thread. i don't think it was crying at all. business owners need to know about these things before they are blown out of proportion which can easily happen with the internet. it sounds like george knows about the issue now and is going to take care of it. i am sure it won't happen again in the near future.

i think promised turn around time is something that does matter. we are not talking about a build with a guesstimated time of completion to be in the 6 month area. we are talking about a one day turn around that was still not done after a month and a couple phone calls.

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

GAP's customer service along with ours is spot on....go to Cabela's web site and check it out for yourself. Check out Midway as well.

What have you done personally or financially to contribute to this site?? Besides complain about a small verbal glitch with a well respected rifle builder?

BTW, Thanks!! You've just invited many more members to check out my company.....

You're missing the point. You dispatched a customer service issue as something that doesn't matter and said anyone that had one was a crybaby. What a way to run a business.

Oh, one more thing. As far as my financial contribution to this site, I have spent thousands of dollars with several of the paid sponsors here. You just won't be one of them.

Re: My dissapointment with GAP

I have one of the top notch gunsmiths in America, he's done work on two of the 100 year anniversary rifles for the Gunsmith Guilds of America..he built my rifle and it's one fine and accurate rifle...But if I did not have this rifle or smith I would be calling George in a heartbeat...and being patient...

But if I want something done from my smith, I can bank on a 30 day turn around even for a small item (UNless his computer needs working then he makes time)...

Never rush a gunsmith!!

I have only once fired a GAP rifle but when 100 or more people say the service is top notch, the rifles are top notch -

And George sent me a T-shirt just for talking to him once..:)

I suspect George's reputation here is that if someone is complaining someone has a problem....if 5 or 20 people complain then maybe George would have reason to see what's up.
