Tuesday the 26th, my Les Baer Concept 7 FINALLY returned to it's home!

Last fall (2012), a friend had hand-loaded 2K+ of .45ACP ball ammo for practice and plinking. He knew I shot my 'suped up' Colt Government in USPSA, so he called to invite me to try some of his freshly minted loads. I eagerly accepted.

I carry 1 of 3 Commanders and the Baer in .45ACP, and then my USPSA gun is in .45ACP... So I was enthused about trying his loads and possibly making a purchase.... I was putting the loads through my usual 'double tap' routine...
But, then... DISASTER!

4 Mags went thru the Government without a hitch. Same for the Commanders.
The Baer? Not so good... I'm assuming that with the tighter tolerances of the Baer... well DISASTER!
Anyway, as luck would have it, as I was practicing my 'lightening fast' ( a-hem...) double tap drills, when I ran into a lightly loaded 'squib' round. The first bullet was stuck in the barrel when I squezzed off the 2nd... I was heartbroken!

I sent the Baer back to Iowa to be repaired, with the caveat that the gun was in my carry rotation and I was in no rush to get it back. It took a full year to get the C7 repaired with a new barrel and necessary parts. Luckily, the slide was undamaged.

I have yet to get to the range (because of family and the holiday...) but, she sure looks purty! A quick field strip revealed all the new parts and of course the tight Baer tolerances. Now to break it in all over again...
I knew I needed to get to the range for something...

Hey, I've got half-a-bucket full of range pickup .45 ACP if you're lookin' to push your luck again!
I had to part with my Les Baer many years ago. I know how it feels to be without one.

Did the squib load cycle the action ? If not, you must have cycled the slide manually and fired the second round. Recoil and sound should have felt extremely low to have stuck a round in the barrel.
