National WWI Museum

Re: National WWI Museum

As many times as I've been to KC I didn't know that museum was there. Next time.

But now I know what to do with my poppy. Years ago I found a book at a garage sale, "Freedom Triumph" 1919.

A couple years later I was showing someone the book and found, between the pages an orginal Poppy from Flanders Field pressed in the pages.

Now I know where to donate my poppy when I pass on.

Re: National WWI Museum

One of the best museum's I have been to. Allow yourself all day to tour the WW1 Museum. The Truman Library is also in the K.C. area and has a nice museum.

There is also an excellent resturant across the tracks from the Amtrak station that is about a half mile or less from the WW 1 Museum. Wish I could remember the name of the resturant but they have great ribs and Prime rib dinners.

As long as we are talking museums, another great museum is the WW2 in the Pacific and Nimitz Museum in Fredricksburg Texas.

Re: National WWI Museum

I just got back from Gardner.... and TRIED so hard to get there with some time and just couldn't pull it off. I was really let down, all work and no play. VJJ recommended it to me and I was all about it- alas. Maybe next year.
