I need something to do the following

MIL/MIL
Mildot
Good Use in lowlight conditions
Max Range 1k
FFP

I'd prefer a Night Force if it's the best option.

I don't care about buying an optic that outdoes me, because I want to learn into it. I want to learn bullet drop, on the spot windage/elevation adjustments, etc... I would like to have an optic zeroed at 100 yards, and be able to adjust to hit something at 700 yards without taking a shot and making on the spot corrections. Do you have any good books you recommend or training videos that may help learn mildot?

Re: Need a Good Optic

Pick up a MILDOT MASTER and it will help with the learning big time on its own. Nice thing is it has both MOA and MIL on each side. I like Nightforce but I have been hearing some great things on the new Vortex MIL MIL, FFP scopes at less cost.

Looks very good, but way out of my price range. I'd like to spend $500 - ~$1000 +/- a few hundred.

Care to tell me more of a summary about the Vortex?
