I'm torn between a Manners MCS-t and a MCM HTG . I have found both in stock and there's a $100 price difference in the two, with Manners being on the low end. I'm thinking in the future when I can get a M40A1 built I'd use the stock for that gun, so obviously MCM would be the "correct" one. Any end users care to chime in? I have never owned either brand of stock. The 40x will be used for smallbore silhouette and bench, but not high-end competition. Thanks.

Question: Are you going to shoot standard or hunter class with the rifle?

Umm, Manners and McMillan are both phenominal companies that build amazing stocks. Considering the two models you're asking about, I would venture to say to save the 100 dollars and get the Manners. Unless one of them have other features already like pillar bedding, or bedding of any sort, or any other advantages you see that could make one more worthy than the other. I have to say Manners though.

If you hope to have an M40A1 down the pipe, get the McM in correct pattern and be happy with it until you build. I'd say be careful and talk with them before deciding which bottom pattern to use. If you do go winchester modified, you will need to have the stuff ready to go for it and be prepared to fit it. Not sure if you can start with BDL and recut to Win.
Hope that makes sense.
