Range Report Need Ballistic calculators help.

Re: Need Ballistic calculators help.

I tried JBM but i am unable to get it to line up w/ my actual data....
i am using federal buck pack, 36 grain. dont have actual muzzle velocity.
my MOA drop is
25 0
50 0
75 1.5
100 6
125 10.5
150 15
175 24

i would like the 200 as well as thats the max range we are shooting tomorrow.
my conversion to mils are

25 0
50 0
75 .5
100 1.75
125 3.1
150 4.5
175 7.2
still need 200

i am unable to make the calculator simulate the actual drop i am experienccing.... at 175 yards is off by as much as 10 moa w/ the 200 yard data equaling my 175 yard data....
what am i dong wrong?

Re: Need Ballistic calculators help.

If you have MOA dope, just divide it by 3.438 - 3.44 is close enough - to change it to mil dope.

You haven't provided enough information for me to try to figure out why your dope doesn't match the JBM calculation. Here's what you need to know, minimum, to set up JBM:

Ballistic coefficient
Bullet weight
Caliber
Muzzle velocity
Sight height above the bore. This is not a critical measurement. Use a rule or tape measure to measure from the center of the bolt to the center of the scope tube.
Zero range

Temperature

Atmospheric pressure - this is the tricky one. See the section on entering atmospheric parameters in this link:

http://www.arcanamavens.com/LBSFiles/Shooting/Downloads/Baro/

Humidity - however, if you checked the box which says, "Standard Atmosphere at Altitude", that box will not matter. That's one of the reasons why it's better to have your own pressure reading, because then you can also enter the humidity and it will calculate that.

Down at the bottom, check the boxes which say:

Elevation correction for zero range
Target relative drops
