Have him send you the serial number off the optic (not the one thats zip pen'd on the side) then call up Aimpoint and see if the number checks out. it's beat up to all hell but it looks legit from what I can tell. China is really good at making knockoffs and it's hard to tell by looking at a photo.

Bought a "like new" used Aimpoint Comp M3 off Amazon a couple of years ago only to find that it was counterfeit. Someone had obviously bought a new one, stuck a knockoff in the box, and returned it!

It's real alright, but it looks like a beat to fuck ex-military unit. I wouldn't give more than $150-$200 for it. That is if it works, and he can convince me it isn't stolen from Uncle Sam.

It does look legit. Same rubber bikini lens caps, QRP mount, kill flash, etc. Condition is beat up but those Aimpoint are made to take a beating. Make sure you check the lenses too or have him send pics of the glass condition. As it sits, after having verified its authenticity with Aimpoint, I’d offer him maybe $200 max for it.

While he's got Aimpoint on the phone, he may as well ask if the original purchaser of that sight was the DoD.......because I have a strong suspicion that it was.

In which case run away fast.
