Thinking about picking one of these up. I'm not a watch guy so I don't know shit about them. I'm not looking for a Rolex (obviously) but something durable and of decent quality would be nice.

Luminox

Opinions appreciated. I'm looking at a lightly used model for $175.

For a duty/working watch I would suggest a G-shock. Thats what I wear hiking, hunting, camping, boating...it has seen many long cold wet nights on the Appalachian Trail and through the Adirondacks. I wear a Rolex Deepsea when diving or doing non rugged activity.

I havent heard too much about the watch you mention. But when it comes to watches it is usually best to avoid anything described as "tactical, special forces, delta, etc"

Re: Need opinions from watch guys

I've got a luminox, can't read what model it is because the back of the case is so worn but on a scale of 10 I'd give it a 7. I've been happy with the watch itself, but have grown to hate the band that comes with it. It's got one of those rubber wrist bands and you will be replacing it once every year or two and more if you do much work in it. One little nick in the band and you have the start of a complete tear through and they are about $30 a pop for replacements. The velcro one that also came with it was uncomfortable and pretty much sucked. I'd buy another Luminox if it had a more functional, heavy duty band. My next watch will be a G Shock based on the reviews I've read, great watch for little money and tough as nails. I don't need a watch to look good though. I had a TAG I got for a graduation present that ended up in pieces in the dryer.

+1 On the G-Shock. I have one of the solar models with atomic timekeeping. Super tough and never have to reset it.
