Need some advice.

My cousins son wants a nice scope But they are quite broke. He already has a Remington 700 police in .308. But he needs a good optic. I have been looking for one for him. He is going to be shooting on my land. I have up to a 1300 yard shot. This kid is a crack shot he can hit a golf ball at 200 with my 300. I was wondering what scope should I get him? I would be getting it for him for his birth day. They are pretty poor so that's why I'm doing this for him.

So what scope?

Price range?

If they're poor, can he afford to shoot? Not trying to be a dick but this is not an inexpensive hobby. Can he sell his rifle and you can just loan him one of yours?

I have helped him out a lot. I buy him the ammo and stuff for his rifle. I load him custom loads and stuff. He has a old scope on it right now a Red field 2-7. But he can't get out to the ranges he wants with that scope. I am willing to spend $1,000 for him. Its quite entertaining to watch him shoot. He is really good at it.

If I was going to spend 1000 I think I would either go viper PST or watch the classifieds like a hawk for a used Nightforce(saw one go last week with a little desirable configuration go for 1200.00....in about 12 minutes,,lol)
