Well, I've waited as long as I can on Vortex to release their PST line and I won't have one in time for a hunt or tactical class. I need to find one with similar options for about 1300-1500.

Priorities

FFP
Mil/Mil
lightish
3-15/4-16/etc magnification
30mm tube

I've looked through a lot of scopes and haven't found anything that meets my criteria.

This will be going on a REPR. Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

My second choices would be;

Bushnell Elite 4200 3-12x44mm
IOR 3-18x42mm (this scope excels on AR platforms due to the short eye-relief)
Leupold Mark 4 ER/T 4.5-15x50mm w/M5 knobs

Given those constraints...

Leupold Mark 4 ER/T 4.5-14x50mm TMR w/M5 knobs. Call Scott @ Liberty Optics and tell him what you need. He'll make you smile.

He wants FFP. Not sure I've seen any F1's for under $1500.

missed that part. I'd still go SFP NightForce and never look back.

Yeah I thought about the price for FFP after I wrote that, but for the extra hundred or 2 it'll be way better than the Leupy and the Bushnell. If only I could afford one...

Well shit. Sounds like I need to make a call tomorrow. Still open to other suggestions though.

As far as the FFP scope vers the SFP, If you can get your hands on a SFP NF, go for it, then down the road, save your pennys and sell the SFP NF and buy the FFP NF or other brand. But for the money your looking at spending the NF is far above all the others.

If you give a bit on the high end magnification, there is a choice I would not hesitate to use on anything, the SuperSniper 3-9x42 FFP, by SWFA. Excellent glass, good mechanicals, light for an FFP scope, Mil/Mil, 30mm tube, but stops at 9x. The cost is relatively low, at $540 with the hide coupon. It feels like a $1,000+ scope.

That would be a cheap and easy choice, and you can sell it again when the Viper PST line comes out - you won't take more that a $50 loss on it if it still is in good shape. If you look on the classifieds here, they sell fast.

WestofPecos speaks with wisdom. On a hunting/SPR rifle I don't want parallax adjustments to slow me down. The Super Sniper also has a seldom mentioned feature in that at low light at low power (3X) the thicker outer edges of the reticule "grow" towards the center and if you have enough light to identify your target you have a sight picture you can use. I've got two and am very pleased.

Buy a Falcon Menace and save your money for what you really want. You can sell the Falcon for a $100 loss once you have met your “golden” total. In the meantime, you will be well served by a decent optic that meets the needs that you specified. What you really want costs over $2,000 – period.

You bought a nice rifle--now get an S & B to put on it.

You would not run Hoosiers on your Ferrari would you?

Re: Never thought I'd do this... Scope suggestion?

Don't laugh, but I got my Weaver Tac 4-20x50 FFP yesterday. Really impressed with it. Construction feels good, glass is way up there, turrets are pretty good plus it's half the $ of a NF. Only thing it lacks for me is ILL.
