OK guys, thought I'd pose this question to you in regards to the aforementioned. I am ISO the very best Smith known to Human and Vulcan kind alike for a new Tactical build. I already have custom action in hand and am anxious to hear your expert and real word experience associated with your recommendations. Thanks

Gap, Short Action Customs, LA Precision, Black Ops, X Ring Accuracy, Southern Precision Rifles, TAC ops, APA, any of these will do a great job. There are others, way more than most know about. These guys are members and vendors on this site that are highly respected, and have already earned there rep by proving them selves.

That pretty much sums it up.

When I finally got the Obermeyer replacement barrel for a M40A1 in 300 Win Mag that was built many years ago by Gale McMillan I asked who he would recommend I have install it. Boots recommended West Wind Rifles in Erie Colorado. I contacted Dave ( the owner) and told him what I needed. He asked about loads, and I said I was shooting a 190 SMK, and would like ten to fifteen thou jump to the lands. I sent 3 dummy rounds, and the rifle came back with 12.5 thou jump, and shoots amazingly well.

McMillan, and West Wind are the only people who have worked on that rifle...now on barrel #4. West Wind did the same quality on a Defiance machine action I sent with a 6.5 bore Obermeyer barrel.

I forgot to mention that he ALWAYS has come in on budget, and on time. Getting the rifle back when I expect it is a big deal to me. I hate waiting my turn only to be told I need to wait another six weeks. However, one time when I called about a project, Dave told me he couldn't take the work for another month. I prefer that I know up front about the wait rather than having a smith get my action, at which point I am sort of "hostage" until they decide to do the work.

Thanks for the insightful tips guys. I suspect I'll go the way of a McMillan A5 super mag stock along with a tube along the lines of a Bartlein, Brux or maybe even a Krieger. I wager any tube today from the top 5 are pretty close to equal. I'm going to go with an AR-30A1 brake unless someone can recommend anything better? Wasn't there a smith that guaranteed .25 MOA?
