How are the ergonomics on that stock?
While I can't fault Daystate for their fit, finish, or accuracy, I'd like to have an Airwolf but the stock just doesn't fit me. The cheekrest (or lack thereof) with the normal stock keeps me from diving in-- it's too low for me. If Daystate were to offer the Airwolf with an adjustable stock similar to the Mk4 I might have to pick one up. I suppose I could also carve up the stock and add my own adjustable cheekrest to the standard walnut stock...
Don't you also have a Mac1 USFT? If you don't mind (and won't get in trouble with your sponsors) what are your thoughts comparing the Mk4 and the USFT? </div></div>
Thanks Kiba!
I love the ergo's on this stock! It's comfortable and the weight is well centered. It balances right at the knee. The cheek peace has a slight depression in it and is adjustable for height, movement left or right a 1/2", forward or rearward 1" or so and can be angled radially a little.
I know what you mean with the Airwolf and to me anyways, most stocks out there. I've been trying my best to buy rifles with adjustable stocks so I didn't have a have custom stocks made for me.
IMO in some ways the USFT and the Panther are polar opposites.
The USFT is incredibly simple and overbuilt. It has a long lock time and a long barrel so shooting it requires very smooth follow through. The trigger is good but not excellent. It has no regulator and a huge air reservoir so not much to go wrong. It's on the heavy side which helps in the FT position and has fully adjustable ergo's. A very solid and dependable PCP and has never failed me.
So far...
The MK4/Panther is a state of the art electro mechanical machine. It has batteries that have to be charged. LCD display. A brain to warn you with a beep if you get low on air, the mag is low/out, low voltage. The gun even turns itself off after 15 minutes.
The lock time is incredibly fast and the barrel is short. I noticed right off the bat that it is much easier to fudge a shot some and still make a hit. The trigger action is as good as it gets and fully adjustable. It came set at 6oz but I am looking forward to setting it at a crisp 3oz. It's got a device called a air stripper on the muzzle. It can be adjusted in and out like a barrel tuner. I haven't had time to experiment with it yet so I'm curious if it will improve accuracy. My favorite thing about the rifle is the firing impulse's feel. The gun hardly moves and I can see the pellet strike most of the time. I can't do that with the USFT.
