Hey guys, I've checked these forums out for a while but never posted anything until today. I've had a 700 SPS Tactical .308 now for a good while and I finally got a scope for it the other day. I went with a Gen 4 WOTAC 4-14x50 and mounted it last night. This being my first real rifle I wanted to do it myself and that might have been a mistake. Today I took it to the range and put maybe 10 rounds through it and noticed the scope had moved forward
. Well when I got back I removed the scope to see if I had any scratches or what not and there wasn't any to my relief. I went ahead and remounted the scope and made sure I tightened the screws good and tight this time. I'll probably go back out Sunday but wanted some advice.
First, there is very small gap on one side of my front and rear ring but I can't seem to tighten them anymore with the small torque wrench Burris (XTR rings) supplied. That normal?
Second, when I zero this sucker in I'll then remove the caps and place them so 0 is on line correct? That way I can use the elevation and windage right?
I apologize for the dumbass questions but I'd really like to get into the tactical style scopes since all I've ever used were fixed style scopes I guess. Thanks
