I am a student at Lassen Gunsmiths College, and for my upcoming class I will be turning a new barrel blank and threading it for my Remington 700. Anyone that has any suggestions on what kind of twist rate to use using 168+175 federal ammunition. Any help is appreciated!

School is a learning experience.
Try looking at diffrent barrel makers sites and see what they reccomend. Try the diffrent bullet makers sites see what they reccomend. Do some research don't expect to get all this stuff handed to you. It took some of us a long time to gain the knowledge we sought it out. Just my experience.

10-12 twist should be fine. If you look you'll see members having differing opinions as to why they use 10,11,11.25, or 12 twist. Pick one; you really can't go wrong.

+1 for the 1-10 to 1-12 range.

You can always follow the 700 5R and go 1-11.25 from nearly every review of that particular rifle, the 168 and 175 gr smk work well.

Thank you all very much for your advice, what I have kind of figured is 1:10 will be a good rate so I can run it a little hotter. Advice always is appreciated!
