Re: new HOT Topic LWRC or POW in .223??

I'd go with LWRC for their coatings. Bore coating extends barrel life to 20,000 rds. says them. Their Ceracote finish on the gun is nice too (FDE, OD, BLK). BCG coated with their Nicoat or whatever, drylube, plus all lower components are coated with Nicoat or whatever.

Haven't hefted or shot a POF, so I'm not dissin' 'em, but LWRC is where I'd go for a piston.

Re: new HOT Topic LWRC or POW in .223??

I have run LWRCI, POF, PWS, etc... and I have run PWS hard as hell. I believe in PWS. It works. It works well. Now, asking "which one" will open another can of worms. Buy one. Shoot it. Maintain it. Train with it, and train with it some more. Be happy.

Cheers!

POF uses coating on their stuff too and makes the extended life claims also.

From the POF-USA site

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body"> We are the first gas piston operated weapon system on the AR-style rifle platform to sell to the market. All of our weapon systems come standard using C.R.O.S.™ (Corrosion Resistant Operating System), which allows our weapon system to operate without the need of lubricant.

Our fluted barrels using NATO chambers are polygonal rifled, using 4150 Mil-B-11595 chrome-moly vanadium alloy (machine gun rated), to reduce heat and weight. All of our barrels are 70 rockwell case hardened heat treated which are corrosion resistant, and 2X harder then Mil-Spec and hammer forged barrels.

Our heat sink barrel nuts, fluted barrels, and free floating rail design help to reduce heat of the barrel around the chamber throat area of the barrel and the overall operating temperature of the weapon system.

Nitrate heat treated barrel:

20” heavy contour, hand-lapped button twisted rifled, fluted to reduce
weight and heat
4150 Mil-B-11595 chrome-moly-vanadium alloy (machine gun rated)
70 Rockwell case hardened (Nitrate ) heat treated “5R” polygonal
barrels are 2 times harder than Mil-Spec & hammer forged barrels
Corrosion resistant and 10 times thicker and harder than Mil-Spec chrome lining
“5R” polygonal right handed 1x10 twist hand-lapped button rifled
barrels from Rock Creek Barrels, Inc.
POF-USA muzzle device
Chamber: 7.62 x 51 mm NATO (.308 Win)

Method of Operation:
Gas piston operated, rotating bolt (short stroke system)
2-position gas plug for normal (N) or suppressed (S) operating modes
C.R.O.S.™ (Corrosion Resistant Operating System)
Nitrate heat treated: barrel, gas block/tube (billet machined), gas plug
NP3™ coated (billet machined), gas piston chromed (billet machined),
bolt carrier assembly NP3™ coated (one-piece billet machined)

Bolt & Carrier:
Nickel Teflon plated 8620 integral keyed steel bolt carrier
(billet machined), heat treated/plated per Mil-Spec
Roller cam pin NP3™ coated
Chrome plated bolt, heat treated to Mil-Spec

I've seen the 20,000 round barrel life claims I just can't remember where.

I only have experience with my 20" P308 so I can't tell you which is better. I do really like my rifle though.

There are a lot of threads covering this and you should wear that Custom Sniper'sHide search engine out before starting any more threads.

Its under the Shoutbox. I just typed in "POF vs" and came up with tons of info. You can type just about anything (within reason) and get a page of links to threads. Try it out.

Some of these are older but I just did a quick search to show you its out there. Look through the SEMI AUTO forum for more current posts about all of the rifles you are asking about.

POF vs LWRC vs LMT <-- LINK

LMT vs POF

LWRC vs Larue vs LMT

Click on those and actually read them.

DMack's thread on his PWS is awesome, here you go.

Good luck.

Re: new HOT Topic LWRC or POW in .223??

Ok, here is my 2 cents. LWRC is very nice I'm not crazy about their price point vs what they bring to the table. POF also very, nice NP3 coating is outstanding. Free float barrel, nice touch. Short stroke piston is ok unsuppressed and face full of gas suppressed. PWS long stroke piston, very nice suppressed or unsuppressed, and runs really clean. The isonite treated barrel seems to be helping DMack. It's lighter than the POF (due to the rail system) and shoots great. Get what YOU want/like and shoot the hell out of it.

Re: new HOT Topic LWRC or POW in .223??

Thank you for the info
Search engine is great!!
This whole thing is fun
But I am learning now that just getting a Black Gun is not easy here in NY!!!
So now looks like After all this ....…........…...........,,,,
I will get the LMT DI gun because I can have it NOW
God has a very funny spence of humor!!!!!!!!
Pick it up
Put glass on it
But ammo
Get a lesson on weapon system
And put some lead down range ,,,,,,,

Re: new HOT Topic LWRC or POW in .223??

Thanks
I will go look to see what is in shop
I did all this research and come to find out that I live in a shitty state for black guns
And even worse place for rifles
Long Island
Was so much easier when I went to school in CO,,
John
What do you like about the Noveske??

Re: new HOT Topic LWRC or POW in .223??
