New old guy from Ohio

Been snooping around for a few weeks, just made it to the intro thread.

I've been building Cetme/HK rifles in various formats for about 4 years now and do a lot of custom machining for the gun builders on Weaponsguild for the same amont of time. I came to the Hide in search of good information on bolt action rifles just prior to buying a Savage 10FCP-K in .308. The first gun I ever built was a custom Mauser in 6.5x55 way back in '81 but have really gotten out of the loop on the new stuff since. I served 4 years in the Marines, stationed at Kaneohe Bay HI for 3 of them.

Welcome to the Hide and for your Service. Not sure where you are in Ohio but if you're close enough to drive to the Cambridge/Zanesville area there are two nice ranges to shoot at. Rayners is where we mainly hang out for practice sessions and matches ( http://www.raynersrange.com/ ) and the other is Thunder Valley Precision ( http://thundervalleyprecision.com/ ).

We're really into the Savages and make quite a few trips to Rayners each month and be more than glad to have you join us.

Thanks! I'll have to check those ranges out on the net. I'm in Centerville, south of Dayton. Cambridge is roughly 2.5~3 hours away but it might be nice to check it out sometime. The wife and I used to pass through Cambridge on the way to New Philly about 4 times a year to go antiquing, probably better that I didn't know about the ranges back then.
