i am going to be buying a savage 12 fvc in .204 and then buying a seprate .22-250 8 twist barrel and bolt head. what do you guys think about this plan, ill most likley be puting the super sniper on this rifle.

If it was me I would just do a 22-250.The reason is with that size bolt face your options are more usable if you change calibers.But it is what ever makes you happy.

The reason i am going this route is that i don't have to pay any gunsmithing fee's for the new barrel and i can use both barrels.i can just use my 22-250 14 twist of my dad's for now and when i have the funds to buy a new barrel, and install it my self

I say just 22-250 as it's far more versatile.204 is a light bullet caliber, yeah it's fast but sucks in wind.Has nothing over the '250....

i do have experience with the .204 i have globs of brass and it is great out to at least 400 with little wind imput. sure you may think the wind affects it alot but it doesn't.

I am useing the hornady factory loads and out to 400 shooting prarie dogs there is little wind factor if any at all even in 20 mph winds. Idk it may be different for you but i love my dads .204 and it also does not tear up coyote hides and that is what it will be used for most, just a hunting round.

Ive seen the 204 damage on coyotes. It tears them up just as much as the 22-250 if not worse.
