No range report yet. Was going to go this afternoon, but it's decided to rain with stiff winds. Will update once I get some rounds through it.

Re: New SPR build

Curious about the Wilson Combat barrel as well, they are definitely priced competitively. I ended up going with a Bergara barrel from PRI for a recent build because it was contoured for the Ops Inc collar, while the Wilson Combat barrel wasn't.

I like the look of the new Magpul fixed MOE as well. Your build is one of the few rifles I've seen the new stock installed on. Great job on the build!

Re: New SPR build

Thanks. Yeah, I was planning this one for a bit, and the new stocks came out just in time. For just a few dollars more you can get a nicer looking stock with more features. Still haven't figured out what all I can shove in the storage compartment. But I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I saw some groups that a Wilson Combat .300blk barrel produced and they were impressive. So i have hopes for this barrel. I've got a dozen different loads worked up to try in it when i get to the range, so we shall see.

As far as what's spr about it other than the barrel. i guess nothing really. I wasn't trying to model anything. Just got the barrel profile i wanted and everything else. Just holding it, she's a bit nose heavy but when you shoulder the gun it really balances quite nicely.

Re: New SPR build

Below is a pic of the target i shot today. Im still learning to drive this rifle, not used to shooting an ar this way, prone with rear bag. I was trying differant grips and ways of holding it. I ended up pulling the rifle tight to my shoulder with my strong hand then loading the bipod. The grip i used was tight with my thumb on the side of the grip instead of wrapping it around. Does this sound right? Its repeatable but not the easiest. Any advice is appreciated.

I got pissed on group 3 blew it pretty bad.

This is definitley a case of the indian not the arrow.

Re: New SPR build

Not bad, might need to play around with different bullet weights and seating depth to figure out what its optimal load is. How do you like the Bushnell ffp scope? I'm thinking about running one of those with either the G2DMR or BTR-Mil reticles on my new SPR.

Re: New SPR build

I like the scope alot, i was having trouble focusing the the image today. But again thats the indian not the bow. Ive already tried a dozen differant loads and this was the best one, my last group today was an improvement over the first group with this load.

Scope def has good glass and the turrets are stiff enough but easy to move as needed.
