I have an old Remington 700 .30-06 adl from the 70's. This is my primary hunting rifle and will shoot .5 moa - .75 moa all day long. I love the rifle, but I was thinking about getting a Mcmillan hunter stock or a Manners stock for it just to make it a little more modern, look a little better, and maybe even squeeze a little more accuracy out of it. My question is this: the barrel right now is not free floated and I am wondering if I get a stock that does free float the barrel if this will hurt the accuracy? I have heard before that some sporter weight barrels don't like to be floated, but I don't think I believe that. Any help would be great guys!! btw, I love this forum!
