Yeah, I'm confused. One of the ones on GB said it was made by USRA. Wrong listing?

I thought these were being re-released after being FN-ed... maybe not.

Re: New Winchester Tactical rifle: CRF

Had one of the original Sharpshooters. Only thing I did to it was lap the lugs and adjust the trigger..it was a 1/2" gun. Always wished I had kept it!

This new model looks like something I might have to have my shop order.

No, this is definitely not the shadow.

Also, why go shadow when you can get SS with the extreme weather? For a more 'grippy' stock?

I'll take the SS any day of the week over the shadow.

Re: New Winchester Tactical rifle: CRF

I recently purchased a M70 ss EW in 308 that you speak of. While it is very accurate for several rounds, it is a light weight hunting rifle, and not built for the same purpose as the Stealth. You are looking at the extractor claw straight on in the pic above. If you look you can see a line on the bolt. The claw is very robust and you are only seeing the top and the flat side of it there. I am very pleased with my rifle, and would consider the Win if I could not swing an SPR, and preferred the M70 action with my precision rifle needs. They seem to have a responsive customer service dept..

Re: New Winchester Tactical rifle: CRF

I saw one a while back in a magazie that said it was the "stealth tactical" new for 2011, it lookes just like that one above but with a 24 inch cromeolly barrel, they also stated in the magazine that you could get it with a 20" barrel. Also the stock did not have checkering on the grip. I think the magazine was titled " blackrifles " if i remember right.

More pics AND how does it shoot (I saw you posted above, but in general)?

Also, how long is the barrel?

Does it feel nice? Any idea how it is bedded?

Re: New Winchester Tactical rifle: CRF

They are nice; I picked one up in November.

The barrel is all most the same as the FN SPR in size, just 2" longer and no chrome lining. I don’t recall what the muzzle diameter was on my SPR right now but the stealth at 24" was about .015 smaller

If you get one, you will need a scope base for the WSM long port short action. It took me a while to find that out…

Barrel is 26", as for accuracy, I took a load I had for another 308 and put it through this one with out any load work and got a 3/4" 5 shot group. No doubt a little tuning would make it shine. It is bedded at the factory and the stock has an aluminum bedding block.

What I really like about this rifle is the fact the chamber is nice and tight. Not anything like Remington’s. If you reload there should be no problem reaching the lands and mag length.

Re: New Winchester Tactical rifle: CRF

Couldn't have said it better myself.... as I said in my earlier post the load I have worked up for it right now is shooting just over 1/2 MOA.... still working on it though and I'm hoping to get under 1/2.... in general it shoots great.... very comfortable.... shot just under 1 MOA with 175gr fgmm factory load

Re: New Winchester Tactical rifle: CRF

I like. That's a killer price, if'n it shoots good.

I love the Winchester action, but the 700P has a real nice stock, and everyone I've owned has been a shooter... Would be interesting to see how this one stacks up.
