He made the connection between the Al-Noor and terrorists during his own research on potential targets or he was converted and the shooting was the plan of his handlers? The training deployments to Pakistan and N. Korea would make sense if he was converted.

If it is what he wrote, it appears he is just wanting speed up the Leftists to start a civil war over guns because he believes most guns and the 2A are mostly cherished by whites. Therefore, a civil war would leave the whites on the winning side, which is what he wants.
True. While the shock factor still has it's weight, writing a full playbook manifesto like this does remove a vast majority of the influence from it all. This guy literally wrote almost every bit of his thought and justification process down, stated he acted alone, and what his intended mission outcome was. One can't exactly predict that their plan would inflict the exact short and long term damages if you give them the play book. I don't think what he physically did is the end goal.
My take on this: He wanted and needed to get caught. He wanted this story to get out while he was alive. It's a play to inject fuel into the "sleeper cells" all over the world that might have needed that motivation to put their own plans/missions in motion. This won't be the last time we hear his name come up in future events as this guy just got an underground ranking promotion.

Take a 1/2 dozen 5.56 cases outside, hold at shoulder height over pavement, drop. Did they bounce? See any bouncing in the video?
Cases are depicted as ejecting at 1:00 on the clock face, they’d be in the frame. (As an aside that isn’t what the eject pattern for an AR should look like.)
