Hello all, I am new to the board. I just got my first AR10 308 and need some help with scopes.
My rifle: DPMS LR308 w/24" Bull Barrel and Flattop reciever.
I have narrowed the scopes to 2 midrange $$ choices:
Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16 x 42mm Tatical OR Nikon Monarch X 4-16 x 50mm Tatical. Both Milldot reticle.
Both seem impressive for the money.
My 1st dilemma is that I see the Bushnell 6500 has 91% light transmission whereas the Nikon has 95%. Does 4% really make that much of a difference?
My 2nd dilemma is that the Bushnell has 80MOA elevation adj whereas the Nikon only has 50MOA elavation adj. I read that the Nikon might not be able to take you out to 1000yds with only 50moa. I am not sure the rifle is actually capable of 1000yds, nor do I know that I would ever try/ be able to find a range to shoot to 1000yds, but it would be nice to know I can. So, can the Nikon be used out to 1000yds with 50moa with a 308?
Thanks in Advance,
Dave
