ATACR FFP 2018 version, 120 MOA advertised adjustment. With this 61MOA Sphur mount is a 100 yard zero with a 300WM still possible or am I being overly optimistic? Another question, the Spuhr mount suggests rosin what do you guys think about this?

Thanks

With that setup you most likely won't be able to zero at 100. You would have 60moa up. And 60 down. If you put on a 61 moa mount you won't zero at 100.

Why and what are you planning on shooting where you would you need 120moa of come up on a Win mag anyway?

This is a 300WM just trying to stretch it out as far as possible. Have gone to a mile but was barely there with my previous base/ring combo. I have heard 120 is just the advertised number and they typically have a few more MOA on the top.

It is for ELR, I am also only at ~1000ft so quite a bit more elevation is required vs someone higher up

I am in a similar situation, trying to stretch my 338 lapua upto 2400 yards...Just bought this 61 moa mount. I was not able to zero it even at 200 yards. Planning to go to a diff range and will try zeroing it at 300 yards...my guess is that I might require a 300+ yard zero.

Although this is a 3 year old thread. I don’t think the 60+ moa mount is useful for a 300 WM. Barely justified for a 338 in my opinion. Take a look at king of 2 mile comps. The first ones are a good showing of what even a 338 LM lacks for such distance. Let alone a 300 WM

Personally I think a 30-40 is plenty. After that you could add a charlie tarac. But again for that distance your choice of caliber runs out of juice before modern optic choices. Unless you just plan to sling endless amounts of ammo until you by luck score a hit. Then I guess it’s needed

What is the right calibre for 2500 yard shots in your experience? I have only stretched my 338 lapua (300 grain bergers via an axmc) to 1600 yards. I generally get 7 out of 10 on target at that range. But I do want a 2500 yard rifle...will appreciate if you share your experience.

Your 338 with 300’s will do that distance. If you want something with consistency at the 2500 yard range then the bigger 338’s are better. For consistency I’d step to a 375 for that distance. But unless I’m shooting comp that long it be hard to justify stepping to a 375. For the occasional shooting to those distances the 338 LM will do. I took mine to a mile when I had it.

This pic was stolen off another thread here. But has drop for 300 Berger/338 LM at 2750 fps to 2500 yards. Theoretically if you put a 40 moa base on the 5-25 atacr with 120 moa of elevation the elevation available should be around 100 moa or about 29 MIL. Which would get to just shy of 2400 yards. But allow a closer zero.

But the 60 moa base does make sense if you plan to shoot further all the time. Mine doubled as a hunting rifle so making shots inside 100 yards was just as important to me as being able to stretch its legs out. I shot a deer with mine at 1,000 but shot in the same field as close as 60 yards the same day

thanks a ton for the detailed reply.
I am trying to calculate what is the minimum distance my rifle can be zeroed. I assume there should be a way to calculate that using below specs?

1. Firing 338 Lapua Magnum (300 grain hunter berger, G7 as 0.417)from a 26 inch barrell (AI AXMC).
2. Rifle rail has in built 30 moa inclination
3. In addition to 2, I have a 61 MOA scope mount.
4. Muzzle velocity 2775
5. Scope is nightforce atacr 7-35x56 FFP with 29MRAD /100MOA internal adjustment range.

thanks for your time and assistance !

If you have that combo as I’m reading it you have 91 moa total?
